I have the following issues:

1. Is there any way I can make email authentication optional, I prefer the customer to get his ticket-id immediately on submission on the browser and thereafter use that to access his/her tickets ?

2. Is there any way to add a few text fields?

3. Based on the selection of dept, Id like to send an email to a particular email address and also to the supervisor. Can I do that?

1. Not in the current 1.7.3 version.  Feature Request

2. Check the "open_form.html.php" file located in your theme directory.  You'll find commented code there that tells you how to add on fields.

3. Can you elaborate?  You want the same email to go to two places?

Don't PM me directly for help.  Post to the forums, that's what they are for after all.  PM's to me that request help will be ignored.
