v 1.7.2
created a new sql db called eticket

Enter your database settings:
Database Type    MySQL
Database Server localhost
Database Name    eticket
Database Username admin
Database Password ********

Enter the above info, press next and get:

Error: Cannot connect to the database server using the information provided.

I ran the troubleshooter and got:

Fatal Error: install Should be removed for security reasons.

any thoughts?

You need to remove or rename the "install" directory.  As long as that is there, the troubleshooter cannot run.

On the flip-side of that, if you remove the install directory and you have not installed yet, then it defeats the purpose.

Therefore, rename the install directory, run the troubleshooter and rename the install directory back to the original name of "install" and let us know what the troubleshooter reports.

Also, what OS is this on...there are currently problems with eTicket on Windows installs...I don't know the exact details, but I've seen a few posts mentioning it...I'll see if I can't find one of the posts.

Yes I agree with Hum. Please post your troubleshooter. Also what OS is this installed on. And do you have the mySQL extension for PHP installed?
