Ok so since I haven't posted a new feature in version 2 in a while. Heres one for you.

Templates are done via Smarty Template system now.
E-mail templates are done via Smarty Template system and allows HTML or Plaintext.

The team has been hard at work as we go along we find tons more new features to add or things to fix. We are hoping to start a beta by the end of the month.

I think that the ability to quote the previous message in the reply is an important feature.

I love a good tease as much as the next guy but waiting for eTicket Version 2 is driving me nuts.  Any guesses at all on a timeframe (ie we are trying to get it out within the week or within the month because we ran into some big hiccups)?

I get this funny feeling I am not the only one that is interested in this information.

Thanks!

You are correct Robin, you are not the only one interested in a more accurate time line for v2.

The problem that I have with the KB being built-in (other than the fact that we have a separate KB) is that eTicket is great the way that it is (minus some small features).  It's not bloated with all of this useless stuff that smaller IT departments don't need.  That's the whole reason we switched from OTRS (which has an KB, and many, MANY other useless features).  We switched because eTicket was smaller, more reliable, and much easier for our customers to use.

It would be a shame to see a simple, easy-to-use ticket system become no different than the other open source ticket systems out there.  We don't mind paying or contributing to the eTicket community, but it's upsetting to see so many people pushing a free application to have the features of applications that cost hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars.

If the KB it implemented, it would be nice to have it as a separate download so that those of us who don't need or use the eTicket KB don't have to worry or deal with the disabling of the KB.

Just my 2-cents.

The built-in knowledge base would reduce the number of questions.
After the customer submits the form, Eticket could search in the KB for the answer to the submitted question. If possible answers found, then Eticket could list those answers, and ask the customer whether he found the answer or not. If not, then proceed to the final submit, otherwise there is no need to open the question.

Version 2 is nearing the stages needed to enter beta testing. We ran into some minor snags with a bit of security bugs that were looming around. I'm expecting very shortly to go into beta stage.

I understand this, however, in our installation we have many NDA's with customers.  By posting their responses in any form that's viewable to the public would violate the NDA and we could be facing a lawsuit.

For this exact reason, we use a third party application for our KB so that we can control what goes into the KB and ensure that the information provided in the KB is both accurate and does not violate any of our NDA's.

Is there a place that we need to submit BETA test requests or are you guys going to post the BETA version for everyone?

So am I, but I just want to clarify.  I'm a huge supporter of open BETA once the developers *believe* it to be stable since more bugs will be found with a larger group of BETA users. Smiley
