I have a problem with the timeout settings when an administrator is logged in in the admin pages:

randomly the administrator gets logged out; sometimes it is after 1 minute sometimes after 10 minutes or 1 hour.

Is there a way the timeout can be changed?

This is part of the PHP and session garbage collector. You would need to modify your php.ini to change it. In version 2 there is now a rememeber me button that will prevent users from getting logged out.
